We move through a water reservoir, a cold, menacing-looking spatial structure. The scene is reminiscent of a dream sequence: strange arrangements lie at the bottom of this architecture, speaking to the viewer and unfolding exaggerated images of the past—childhood memories threatened by the rising water level of oblivion. Tanque de Tormentas thus refers to mental states, processes of consciousness, perhaps the interior of one's own mind. Architecture and emotion merge into a narrative about remembering and forgetting, about the loss of biography and the fear of losing one's own history. The water reservoir becomes an image of psychological processes: just as the water level must be regulated, so too must remembering and forgetting in a historyless time be stabilized in order to preserve the self.
