ANDREAS SCHMID

Reminiscence Malevich, Movement of Square - Memory never dies, movement of a square
Neon tubes, adhesive tape, approx. 250 x 220 cm

Due to his training in calligraphy, Andreas Schmid thinks in terms of drawing. The artist is conscious of the relationships and proportions of black marks on a white background, the significance of the spaces between them, the outlines of the drawings, and the relationships between the individual marks and among themselves. In his work, the marks become lines that have an effect not only on the surface but also in space, evoking movement and rhythm through their harmony.
